Tart Cherry Pale Ale
6.5% ABV, 45 IBU
Style: American Pale Ale
Malts: 2-Row, Munich 10L, Caraamber
Yeast: American Ale (SafAle #US-05)
Additional: Tart Cherries
Brewer: Chris Stuart
This beer was originally the third-place finisher in 2015’s joint Great American Beer Festival (GABF) Pro-Am homebrew competition between Factotum and CO-Brew. Although it was not selected to be brewed and sent to competition by either brewery, Chris Stuart’s beer nonetheless made an impact and Factotum decided to brew a small-batch to be released in the taproom during GABF week. Since it sold well that year, we decided to bring it back again each year on the 7BBL system!
Expect slightly pink beer that’s citrusy, fruity, and mildly tart but with enough hops on the back end to remind you of its pale ale base.
In the words of the brewer:
“I am retired from the Air Force and currently work as a contracting officer for Housing and Urban Development. I first grew to love different beer styles while stationed in Germany in the early ’90s. The Tart Cherry Pale Ale was inspired by the first time I tried a Lindemans Kriek while I was overseas. I’ve been homebrewing for three years now and when i’m not brewing I love to run and travel with my wife.”
